Blacksburg pulls together and honors the victims of this tragedy with candlelight vigils and prayer groups on Henderson lawn, in front of the Chappel on the Drill Field a short distance from the police line. The entire campus is mourning. All of our prayers are with the families and friends and the entire community of Blacksburg Virginia. I will never be the same, no one who was here today will forget the moment they heard that for the second time in one school year, Virginia Tech was locked down because of a gunman loose on campus. As a community we have been ripped apart by tragedy and as night fell it was obvious that we are still in shock in the small community of Blacksburg. People prayed and sang Amazing Grace as the world wide media was arriving. Friends met at the local taverns comforting each other fighting back tears that could not be held, hugging and calling loved ones to say they are alright. As the hours past the questions raised and anger met tears as others calmed and consoled each other. Why did they not sound the alarm on campus at 7:15 or even 8:15 or even 9:15... no it took until 9:50 for the campus alarm to sound. "there is a gunman loose on campus, seek shelter and stay away from windows and doors!" This repeated for over 2 hours as our worst nightmare as a peaceful community came true 4 days before the 8 year anniversery of Columbine.

update: Two friends of mine were shot. Matt Webster survived a shot to the head and arm. Julia Pryde a local activist for Mountian Justice was killed. I will be writing a full article on both. Julia and many others will be missed dearly.
